Yes, creditors will stop contacting you for collection purposes after you file for bankruptcy. That being said, there will always be creditors who are either slow to find out about the bankruptcy filing or they choose to violate the bankruptcy automatic stay. I tell my clients to keep a notepad beside the phone so if a creditor calls, they can write down the name, time, and reason for the call. I further explain to give every creditor a free pass and to provide them the bankruptcy case number and my information. If the creditor chooses to continue to violate the bankruptcy automatic stay, I can file a lawsuit in bankruptcy court to collect damages for my clients.
