Should I file Chapter 7? This is the most common question I receive from my clients. This is not an easy answer and I can only answer the question after undergoing a consultation with you to determine your income, family size, list of debts, prior filings, and list of assets. That being said, if you do qualify, I want to make sure you have a game plan to deal with credit issues in the future. It is not worth filing for bankruptcy if you are going to get back into the same debt situation again. I recommend to most of my clients to read a book by Dave Ramsey called The Financial Make Over. Dave Ramsey’s slogan is “Live like no one else so that one day you can live life no one else”. The point he is stressing is that you should not live like your neighbors who are financing expensive cars and homes they cannot afford. Live frugally so that one day you can live stress free from debt and stress!
