Do you have to have an attorney to file bankruptcy?

No, you dont have to have an attorney or lawyer to file for bankruptcy protection. That being said, even if you dont hire my law firm, I highly recommend that you retain an experienced bankruptcy lawyer to file your case. Bankruptcy law is complex and constantly changing. In fact, a few years ago many bankruptcy attorneys across the country stopped practicing bankruptcy law due to the constant changes in the law. One final note, if you are below the poverty line, you may qualify for a free attorney. In addition, come speak to me about your ability to pay at our intial meeting and I will do my best to set your fee at a manageable amount.
