I am pleased to announce that starting March 1, 2025 I will resume accepting VAWA cases (Violence Against Womens Act) from immigrant clients that have been abused by their United States citizen spouse or permanent residence spouse.
My first VAWA case I worked on was almost twenty-two years ago. A woman originally from China had been abused by her US citizen husband. In addition, he refused to help her obtain a green card.
What made this case so difficult was that like many abuse cases, their was little documentation because the woman was scared to call the police. However, VAWA accepts valid documentation in many forms because they understand immigrants that are abused, do not always call the police. In her case we were able to obtain an expert pschologist write a report of the woman’s history of abuse from her husband. Luckily, VAWA found the evidence to be plausible and her visa was approved.
If you are an immigrant currently living in the US and you have a present or former US citizen spouse or permanent resident spouse that abused you, I maybe able to help you obtain a VAWA visa. Please feel free to call me today to set up a free consult and we can discuss your eligibility requirements for the VAWA petition.
